| Description | From here you can see that the SSM Agent has been included in AlmaLinux AMIs https://almalinux.org/blog/almalinux-cloud-images-updates-september-2021/ I've tried it , and since it is not officially supported by AWS yet, unlike RockyLinux, there are a few major issues. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/sysman-manual-agent-install.html The OS is not detected. See excerpt of /var/log/amazon/ssm/amazon-ssm-agent.log 2022-05-12 14:46:19 INFO [ssm-agent-worker] [StartupProcessor] Write to serial port: Amazon SSM Agent v3.1.338.0 is running 2022-05-12 14:46:19 INFO [ssm-agent-worker] [StartupProcessor] Write to serial port: OsProductName: NotAvailable 2022-05-12 14:46:19 INFO [ssm-agent-worker] [StartupProcessor] Write to serial port: OsVersion: NotAvailable And because of that, Systems Manager operations that require knowing which Operating System is running, will fail. Failed with run commands: AWS-RunPatchBaseline AWS-UpdateSSMAgent Request to liaise with AWS to make it officially supported. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1 - Launch AlmaLinux instance with appropriate Instance Profile role for Systems Manager. 2 - Wait for it to fully boot. 3 - Use Systems Manager Run Command to run these documents against the instance: AWS-RunPatchBaseline AWS-UpdateSSMAgent | ||||
| Additional Information | Inventory works but is not able to identify OS. Features that do not require identifying the OS work, like Session Manager and AWS-RunShellScript. | ||||

hello, i'm having this bug with Alma Linux and the AWS SSM Agent where the OS can't be identified. These changes come in handy. I see that the push was validated, is the pull gonna ever be validated and released? thank you. |
