Summary0000160: kernel-4.8.0-348.2.1_el8_5.x86_64 Linux relelase not supported error in kcc_static_tool.sh when running scriptlet
DescriptionUpdating to kernel-4.8.0-348.2.1_el8_5.x86_64 I noticed the following error in the output:

Running scriptlet: kernel-4.8.0-348.2.1_el8_5.x86_64
Error kcc_static_tool.sh: Linux release (AlmaLinux 8.5) is not supported.

The same error also occurs when dnf attempts to remove an old kernel version, 4.18.0-305.19.1.el8_4.
Steps To ReproduceRun "dnf update" to install latest kernel version, or perhaps "dnf reinstall kernel" will work as well.

I suppose kcc_static_tool.sh is a Macafee's tool. According to their documentation (1):

"For KCC failure, you can either rebuild the kernel modules or wait for McAfee to release a new hotfix. See the "Create builds for unsupported Linux kernels" section of the MACC 6.1.7 Installation Guide for more information."

Looks like they only list RHEL, CentOS, and Oracle. You might want to file a request to include AlmaLinux in their kernel compatibility list (2).

Oh thanks. Yes, the machine does have McAfee stuff on there. This ticket can be closed.
