Summary | 0000100: openldap-servers missing in 8.4
Description | Updating Almalinux to 8.4 fails with an error if openldap-servers is installed: [[email protected] yum.repos.d]# dnf update Last metadata expiration check: 0:00:27 ago on sre 16 jun 2021 11:31:17 CEST. Error: Problem: cannot install both openldap-2.4.46-16.el8.x86_64 and openldap-2.4.46-15.el8.x86_64 - package openldap-servers-2.4.46-15.el8.x86_64 requires openldap(x86-64) = 2.4.46-15.el8, but none of the providers can be installed - cannot install the best update candidate for package openldap-2.4.46-15.el8.x86_64 - problem with installed package openldap-servers-2.4.46-15.el8.x86_64 (try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages or '--skip-broken' to skip uninstallable packages or '--nobest' to use not only best candidate packages) I migrated my LDAP servers from RHEL 7 to Almalinux because Red Hat dropped OpenLDAP and AlmaLinux still had it (up to and including 8.3) - any chance of keeping the package in the future?
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Install AlmaLInux < 8.4 2. Update to 8.4 OR 1. Install AlmaLinux 8.4 2. Try to install openldap-servers

Hi! We had to remove openldap-servers to be 1:1 RHEL but you can find it in devel repo that includes packages that was built but not released because Red Hat don't release them. Here is openldap-servers: https://repo.almalinux.org/almalinux/8.4/devel/x86_64/os/Packages/openldap-servers-2.4.46-16.el8.x86_64.rpm This repo is updating so when Red Hat release update for openldap updated openldap-servers package will hit the devel repo too. But please don't enable the whole devel repo as it may be dangerous. Just take packages you need. |
