Summary0000387: Elevate/leapp upgrade from CentOS 7.9.2009 incorrectly flags filesystem space as blocker
DescriptionAttempted to update from CentOS 7.9 to AlmaLinux 8 with leapp, and got a message at the end of the upgrade step that "At least 317MB more space needed on the / filesystem."
I deleted about 3GB of files from a subdir under / and ran leapp upgrade again, and got the same message that 317MB more space was needed.
I thought perhaps the message was specifically about /boot but just did not distinguish where the space was needed, so I remove two old kernels which freed about 120MB in /boot. Ran again and the message still stated 317MB more space needed.

This is the actual amount of free space available:
$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
devtmpfs 3.8G 0 3.8G 0% /dev
tmpfs 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev/shm
tmpfs 3.9G 98M 3.8G 3% /run
tmpfs 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
/dev/mapper/centos-root 922G 858G 65G 94% /
/dev/sda2 497M 104M 394M 21% /boot
/dev/sda1 200M 12M 189M 6% /boot/efi
tmpfs 781M 0 781M 0% /run/user/1000

The root filesystem is on a /dev/mapper volume, but I did not find anything in the FAQ or Wiki indicating that would be a problem.

Earlier in the output there were these warnings, but nothing to indicate they would be upgrade blockers:

STDERR:

Disk Requirements:

I will attempt to attach the log and report files after submitting this. Every attempt to include files with the issue submission resulted in a Mantis error, so hopefully they can be added after the issue has been submitted.
Steps To ReproduceI followed the steps described at https://linuxiac.com/centos-7-to-almalinux-8-migration-guide/ :
sudo dnf update
sudo dnf install -y http://repo.almalinux.org/elevate/elevate-release-latest-el7.noarch.rpm
sudo dnf install -y leapp-upgrade leapp-data-almalinux
sudo leapp preupgrade
[fix answer about pam_pkcs11 in answerfile, stop nfsd]
sudo leapp preupgrade
[no errors after second preupgrade check]
sudo leapp upgrade
[error message about 317MB more space needed]
Additional InformationI have a few additional repos active, the preupgrade check flagged them as potentially leaving packages not updated, but did not indicate they would cause any upgrade blocker problems.

I attempted to upload the log and report files from leapp upgrade, but the Mantis server returned this error:

APPLICATION ERROR #503
Invalid upload path. Directory either does not exist or not writable to webserver.

Still getting the web server error:

APPLICATION ERROR #503

Invalid upload path. Directory either does not exist or not writable to webserver.
Please use the "Back" button in your web browser to return to the previous page. There you can correct whatever problems were identified in this error or select another action. You can also click an option from the menu bar to go directly to a new section.

Is no one else having this error attempting to upload files to the bug server?

Checking whether new unified Alma account fixes my problem with uploading log files.

Hello.
Please try workaround that proposed here: https://github.com/AlmaLinux/leapp-repository/issues/38

Still fails with that workaround.

I tried that workaround discussed in github but got the same error.
I tried again, but from su rather than sudo (previously I was logged in as a user and used sudo to run leapp preupgrade and leapp upgrade, I ran again after using su to login as root) and was able to finish leapp upgrade with no errors. Perhaps I did something else differently, but that is not clear to me right now.
