Summary0000274: nvidia Legacy 390 does not compile
DescriptionI've tried to install nvidia driver for my graphic Card GeForce GT520:

Using the standard package: akmod-nvidia-390xx

The compilation fails (see attached log)

For information, it was working fine on CentOS7.
I've also tried with the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-390.151.sh (downloaded from the vendor site), it also failed.

I recommend you give ELRepo's kmod package a try. To do this, you need to uninstall what you have installed so far and :

(1) Set up the ELRepo repository by following the instructions on https://www.elrepo.org/

sudo rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org
sudo yum install https://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-8.el8.elrepo.noarch.rpm

(2) Then install the nvidia-detect package and run it ( see https://www.elrepo.org/tiki/nvidia-detect for details )

sudo yum install nvidia-detect
nvidia-detect -v
sudo yum install $(nvidia-detect)

But it gives the same result (because nvidia-detect recommands to install the kmod-nvidia driver)

Are you sure nvidia-detect said "kmod-nvidia"? Not "kmod-nvidia-390xx" ? The latter is expected for the GT 520 card.

Please copy the output of the command 'nvidia-detect -v' here. It should show the device IDs [xxxx:yyyy].

So far, so good. Now all you have to do is to run the last command:

sudo yum install $(nvidia-detect)

Or you can run:

sudo yum install kmod-nvidia-390xx

Please note that ELRepo's kmod packages do NOT require compilation at all. They provide drivers that have been compiled for your kernel. Also, within a minor release (for example el 8.6), they do not need to be re-installed for each kernel update, thanks to their kABI-tracking nature.
